Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for emergenciesin a facility
   • Emergency equipment, assigned for use by the response team, is stored and maintained in a safe, accessible and serviced state
2. Facility emergency response procedures to be used by personnel are identified and accessed
3. Risk assessment of response team's activities is undertaken, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures
4. Response team's training activities are performed, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures and legislation
5. Respond to emergenciesin a facility
   • Emergency is responded to, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures
6. Emergency is assessed for hazards and precautions are implemented
7. Identified hazards are reported to occupants in danger and to response team leader, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures
8. An appropriate response level is determined, in accordance with the status of the facility emergency
9. Instructions from response team leader are confirmed and implemented safely and promptly, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures
10. Equipment is selected and safely operated, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures
11. Emergency is contained to prevent an escalation and to enable emergency services and specialist response team activity to be completed safely
12. Communicate with and complement other personnel
    • Communication with response team members and leader is maintained throughout facility emergency
13. Emergency response procedures and activities are consistent with the response team leader's plan of action and supports the work and actions of other response team members
14. Any injuries, accidents or near misses involving team members are reported to the response team leader
15. Assist with recovery from anemergencyin a facility
    • Evidence relating to the cause, origin and progress of the facility emergency is preserved and recorded
16. Assistance is provided to occupants, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures
17. Emergency equipment is returned to a state of readiness, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures
18. Debriefings are attended and contributed to, in accordance with facility emergency response procedures
